This tutorial will teach you to create a really good rocky texture that can be used in various istances, such as texturing an asteroid or creating path in a grassland.
Start a new image with a black background and a brownish foreground color (#595844).
Create a new layer on top of the background one, fill it with the foreground color (Alt+Backspace) then go to Filter > Render > Clouds.
