Realistic Curtain (3D Studio Max modeling tutorial) - step 10
To make the scene look more realistic we will add a small wind force from the back of the curtain. In the Front Viewport go to Create > SpaceWarps > Forces > Wind and place it in the center of the curtain (the size of the wind icon is not important but its position is). In the Wind Parameters type: Strength=0.2; Decay=0; Turbulence=1. In the Left Viewport drag the wind to the back of the curtain (make sure that the wind is facing the curtain).
Realistic Curtain (3D Studio Max modeling tutorial) - step 11
Select the curtain. In the Modify Panel click Cloth Forces to add the wind to the simulation. Now test the simulation. Play a little bit with the wind parameters and after you have a result that you like stop the simulation by pressing Simulate Local again and right click in any viewport and convert the object to editable poly. For a final touch add a Shell modifier to the cloth (from the Modifiers List) with Inner Amount of 0.1 and a MeshSmooth with 2 iterations. You can change the radius of the cylinder back to 1 now.
