Finally extrude it towards the interior of the pen. In my case I used an amount equal to 30 units.
To get a smoother shape we will chamfer most of the object's edges. Use Ctrl+A in edge mode (shortcut: "2") to select all edges then deselect the white ones in the image above.
Also, at the tip of the pen, deselect the diagonal edges.
