Right-click on the screen and pick Hide Selection which will leave you with an empty workspace.

Create a Sphere with a Radius of 20 units and 24 Segments. Convert it to an Editable Polygon (or add an Edit Poly modifier) and go into Polygon subobject mode (shortcut: "4"). Select the polys at the top as seen in the above image.

Delete the selected polygons.
