Now switch to Vertex subobject mode, select the Top Viewport and hit Alt+W to display this viewport only. Select the 3 vertices highlighted in our image and move them towards the blade.
Repeat the step above on the other side.
Do some more vertex moving until you get a "fantasy" shape to your sword guard.
